The Digestive Health Foundation (DHF) exists to promote health and education in the area of gastrointestinal disease. Thus it is anxious to see its information, educational materials and message disseminated to as wide an audience as possible. However, it is important that the material is used appropriately, is not altered and kept up-to-date. It is also concomitant with the use of DHF material, that the DHF receives a fair share of any rewards.
DHF material must be used
The DHF must receive a final copy of the material in the form it is proposed to be used (e.g. CD-ROM, website address) so that the DHF can assess the appropriateness of its use.
The DHF statement on "Guideline Statement" must be included with all materials, as must all other acknowledgements.
It is the responsibility of the requesting organisation to ensure that material is constantly updated as the DHF publishes revisions, new editions and updates frequently.
"This leaflet is promoted as a public service by the Digestive Health Foundation. This leaflet cannot be completely comprehensive and it is intended as a guide only. The information given is current at the time of printing, but may change in the future. If you have further questions you should raise them with your doctor."
When an organisation derives profit from the use of DHF materials, an appropriate sponsorship package must be negotiated with the DHF and it's parent body GESA.
The DHF may forgo any payment for non-for-profit organisations using the material. But there must be adherence to guiding principles. These organisations may include self-help groups, government websites (e.g. Health Incite), websites organised by GP Divisions. Each organisation will be requested to supply full details of any amount of sponsorship, grant money or funding it is receiving for the particular education project. Resulting from this the DHF may request a contribution appropriate to the circumstances.
The DHF accepts being hot-linked by approved and appropriate organisations' websites (i.e. from the organization to DHF).
Requests for hot-linking to the GESA website need to be made directly to GESA and approval given on the basis of the stated criteria, available on request.
All material published by the Digestive Health Foundation remains its personal intellectual property.
The DHF will pursue any apparent breaches of copyright, as it highly values its intellectual property.
