Outstanding Clinician Award
Call for Nominations

Closing Date: 31 July 2008

Purpose

The award recognises the outstanding contribution to clinical gastroenterology by a member of the Society.

Guidelines for the Award

  1. A nominee must be a financial members of the Gastroenterology Society of Australia.
  2. The nominator must be a financial member of the Society.
  3. The award recognises a distinguished career in clinical practice, which may include a notable contribution in clinical research. The recipient’s clinical contribution will have been sustained over a number of years. The award is distinct from the outstanding mentor award.
  4. The nominee must be able to attend AGW to accept the award and deliver a plenary presentation on an area of clinical expertise.

Value of Prize

  1. $1,000
  2. Certificate
  3. Presentation at Australian Gastroenterology Week.

Mechanism of Nomination

Society members may nominate an individual by writing to the Honorary Secretary requesting that an individual be considered. Nominations should include a summary outlining the reasons for the nomination. The task of searching for suitable candidates will also be the responsibility of the Nominating Committee of Council.

Mechanism of Selection

The Nominating Committee will consider all candidates for the award and, accompanied by appropriate documentation make a recommendation to Council. If no contribution is adjudged by Council to be of sufficiently high standard an award will not be made.

Timetable and Notification of the Prize Winner

Nominations will close on 31 July 2008. After approval by Council, the President shall offer the prize winner the award by letter in early August.. This timing will allow planning for a contribution by the recipient at Australian Gastroenterology Week later in the year.
