Overview:
The TCT Workshop is an intensive, highly interactive 2-day workshop, involving 6 delegates and 2 or 3 faculty.
Day 1 consists of a number of sessions which cover adult education concepts, the structure of a high-quality training episode, discussion of elements of communication between trainer and trainee and the giving of useful feedback.
On day 2 you will have the opportunity to train one of the local registrars for 30 minutes during a real colonoscopy (you will NOT be performing a colonoscopy yourself, your role will specifically be hands-off, but you will then receive feedback from faculty about how you have performed as a trainer.)
Learning Objectives:
At this workshop you will:
- Acquire targeted endoscopy room teaching skills
- Gain exposure to adult educational concepts that will equip you to become a better trainer
- Develop critical reflection skills with regard to teaching and clinical practice and
- Discuss assessment, measurement and development tools in colonoscopy.
Who Should Attend:
The TCT Workshop has been specifically designed for supervisors who are actively engaged in the training of colonoscopy.
Course Work:
On the first day of the course, amongst other activities, you will be asked to deliver a short (5-min) training episode to the group. This will take one of two forms, either leading a discussion with the rest of the group or performing a short one-on-one practical training exercise, while the rest of the group observes.
